THE CREATION OF MAN

The Quran states that God created man from one being, then his mate, and from the two many beings of many tribes and nation. But the best are the ones who worship God totally without associating Him with any being or with any thing. These are called submitters or muslims or mukmins or who have internalised God into thei selves.
God, of course, does not need their worship of Him. He is the philosophical Necessary Being while the universe, including man is contingent being. Man is God's shadow on earth. He has been sent to the earth to retrieve himself after being duped by God's enemy, the Devil, for opposing God's order to bow down to Man. This order is symbolic of Man's ability to know. Knowledge is power, power to rule and remake the universe.
Why did God create an imperfect universe? Perfection is God Who exists by Himself. Read the Throne Verse (2: 255) to know Who God is. God is Power Perfect. He does not create another god to rival Him. Two gods is one two many. It is illogical and therefore a great wrong, destined for hell.
There are three types of man, or rather ideologies or beliefs, the true belief, monotheism, the false belief, polytheism, and in between you have hipocracy. These beliefs bring about their consequences of the psychological states of mind of unease and contentment, the ammarah, the lawwamah and the jannah of the Quran.
These psychological states exist now in this world, to be continued in the hereafter. The hereafter is a logical continuation of this  world, on a higher ethical and spiritual level. Man therefore does not dies. The Quran likens death to sleep, and waking to resurrection, as his soul is a breath of the divine soul. The term 'death' used in the Quran is  life potential before it becomes factual.
What is God then? God is Pure Energy. It is so powerful that no created being can withstand it. There will a time when billions of years from now this immensely vase universe will be bereft of energy. It will collapse upon itself, leaving "the Countenance of God", whatever that means. A divine Hadith (Hadith Qudsi) has it, "I was alone at the beginning. I am now as I was before." That means only God exists. Man or the universe does not!

About Me

Kassim Ahmad
(About Kassim Ahmad By: M. Bakri Musa) Kassim Ahmad is Malaysia's foremost thinker and philosopher. He grabbed national headlines in the 1950s with his dissertation on the characters of Hang Tuah (Perwatakan Hang Tuah), the Malay literary classic. In it he challenged the traditional interpretation and made the hitherto hero Hang Tuah as nothing more than a palace hack, and elevated the anti-hero Hang Jebat as the true hero, willing to kill even the sultan in defence of honor and principles. Kassim was jailed for nearly five years under the ISA for daring to express openly his political views, an experience which he recounted in his book, Universiti Kedua (Second University). Kassim again shook the Malay world with his "Hadith: A Re-Examination" in which he challenges the infallibility of the purported words of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Except for an honorary doctorate in Letters conferred by the National University of Malaysia, the country has not seen fit to honor this great public intellectual. June 2005
